As soon as 2 days: When people are bitten by a lyme-bearing tick they can become ill with flu-like symptoms within 2 days. The same timeline should apply if infected via transfusion. No one knows how common this occurs. Many who have lyme do not know it & some who have it may have negative lab tests. The blood supply is not screened for borrelia bacteria. However, most with lyme probably feel too bad to donate blood.
