How does stress relate to hives?

4 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Yes: Stress in the form of trauma, exercise, and/or cold can bring on the onset of hives. Hives is primarily due to the release of several chemicals in our bodies such as seratonin, bradykinins, and histamines. When we get stressed these chemicals are released and can be revealed as hives( areas of inflammation on our skin).

Stress & Hives: It definitely is a strong contributing factor to the development and maintenance of hives. Non-sedating antihistamines are the treatment of choice during daylight.
