Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids are simply varicose veins occurring at rectum. Can with minimal trauma become inflamed. Generally benefitted by keeping stools soft. Fiber may help along with increased fluids. If no improvement may want to see surgeon.

No: You probably have intero-external hemorrhoid which can be itchy or uncomfortable off and on. After several years it does not return into the anal canal and permanently stays outside and that is when it becomes painful and irritating. It could also be an anla polyp that protrudes from the anus. Please see a colorectal surgeon who can usually take care of the hemorrhoid or polyp in the office.
