Professional.: This depends on the patient, the health of your gums, general health, home hygiene and many other factors. The time required and cost also vary greatly for the same reasons. Your dentist or hygienist should be able to tell you what kind of cleaning you need and how often you should be seen as this varies between patients.

Varies: The type of dental cleaning will vary depending on how long it has been since you had it done, the condition of your gums and teeth, and your medical condition. The presence of periodontal disease will complicate treatment. See your dentist for evaluation first.
