Around 95%...: Between exacerbations, an asthmatic's pulse ox is normal since airway obstruction in asthma is reversible by definition. During an asthma exacerbation, the airways are obstructed/inflamed to a certain degree depending on the severity of the exacerbation and the pulse ox may decrease. Supplemental oxygen may then be necessary to maintain oxygen delivery to vital organs/tissues.
