Its never too late : Its never too late to quit smoking. The longer he remains without smoking - the better. Lungs can heal over time, although chances of lung cancer never go down to completely the same as if he never smoked, they can dramatically decrease. Also - if he ever needs surgery - he will do better after surgery if he is not actively smoking than if he is.

Big difference!!!: There is damage that has occurred and also ongoing damage that happens every time he lights up another cigarette or someone else does around him! there is great benefit both immediate as well as long term if he quits smoking! it does not matter how long he has smoked. He will enjoy better health immediately and immediate risk reduction for lung cancer as well as cardiovascular disease.
