Plugging the veins: A varicocele is an abnormal cluster of veins, swollen up by some blockage of the blood flow going away from those veins, to go back towards the heart. A way to prevent blood from entering the varicocele and swelling up the abnormal veins is to plug some blood vessels leading to the varicocele. Embolization is the name of the procedure where something is placed in the blood vessels to block them.

Simple: Varicocele embolization treats the source of the problem not the site. The left gonadal vein is the most commonly treated vein to effectively treat a patient with varicocele. It arises from the left renal vein in the abdomen. Coil embolization and liquid scleroscents combined have the best durability. Your urologist should send you for a consultation with a vascular and interventional radiologist.

A way to block...: Varicocele embolization is an innovative means to treat voricocele at need with injecting embolizing coil + sclerosing agent to induce proximal level at spermatic vein entering left renal vein performed by interventional radiologists, so to cause blocking spermatic vein and in time, collapsing varicocele, with a claim of improving semen quality and pregnancy rate.
