Close monitoring: Hashimoto's thyroid disease is an autoimmune thyroid disease caused by antibodies destruction to the thyroid tissues. Over time, part of the thyroid will be destroy causing hypothyroidism. If you have hashimoto's thyroid disease, you need to have your thyroid labs test periodically to catch the time when your thyroid function is slowing down so you can start thyroid hormone replacement.
