Different things: If you want to have your deliver at the hospital, midwives usually enjoy a back up support of obgyn physicians and do a great job as a whole. They seem to be more protective of their patients, which some patients like. They usually take more time and seem to have a more personal approach than physicians. Home deliveries done by midwives carry some risks, so if you are willing to accept - go for it.

Midwife deliveries: Midwives are specially trained nurses who attend and deliver infants, mostly in hospital settings. Make sure that the midwife chosen has a physician on call for any complications, and remember, if "home deliveries" are recommended, in certain obstetric emergencies it takes time to get to the hospital, so good communication with an OB physician is important when necessary.
