Both have benefits: Many types of healing modalities including eastern traditions and western allopathic medicine can be beneficial depending on the issue at hand. In some cases, both can be used together. In other cases one may be more appropriate though not exclusive (i.e. In a severe trauma situation, western medicine can save your life; for symptoms of a cold, i would think of using eastern herbal remedies).

East / West medicine: The benefit of staying w/only Western or Eastern medicine is that you will not impact the dose of meds you are taking in the plus or minus direction by taking two similar acting medications. This can also confuse the doctors involved. If both types of medications are used, you need to inform all practitioners involved so they will help you make safe and informed choices. Peace and good health.
