Causes: : In women, the tube that drains from the bladder to the outside is very short, just a couple of cm long, and there are a lot of potentially pathogenic bacteria that 'live' nearby (from the rectum, sometimes the vagina) - that have only a short distance to travel in order to get into the bladder and start to proliferate.
