Yes, almost always: "drinking water" in the United States is made to be safe. Tap water has to meet safety guidelines but in rare instances, there may be spores in the water that can cause problems in people with very weak immune systems. Bottled water is filtered or distilled, so it is rare for bottled water to be unsafe. Untreated water from wells may have chemicals, minerals, or germs that are unsafe.

In US pretty safe: Each city in the us usually has a water safety report, usually sent in the mail, at least annually. Check you city internet page. . There is a minimal standard of safety. Be proactive, don't assume water is safe. Wash your hands, dishes. Avoid stagnant water in the yard. Many buy bottle water. The water conditions are different in evey state.
