how can i protect my baby's ears if we are traveling on an airplane?

Plan ahead: I find the simplest remedies are often the best. If you can, plan a direct flight as the landings are the problem.Use a pacifier, bottle, chewing gum or other age appropriate method to increase the chance that the kid will be able to depressurize their ears during landing.
