Wrong approach: The vegan diet is promoted as a cure-all but all of the recent big studies have shown no advantage in longevity or any category of illness or measure of health for vegans as compared to omnivores when you control for their other habits. Don't undertake something that will probably not work when you have fitness options, salt management and effective medications.

Yes: If you limit salt intake a switch in diet may help your blood pressure to be lower. It depends on how high it is now and what other illnesses you have.
