There are many injections that may be available depending on where the pain is located. Proper diet, exercise, and smoking cessation can also go a long way towards relieving pain.

Yes: Depending on the cause of the pain there are alternatives to ingested medications. This can include topical preparations. If the pain is from nerve damage in the spine or limbs a spinal cord stimulator can be very effective in reducing pain. Spinal infusion pumps with various medications are implanted devices that can relieve pain with greatly reduced dosages of medication and greatly reduced sid.
