Many ways: It depends alot on the individual. Hearing loss of any degree can be very isolating. Hearing aids can help hearing loss and sometimes cochlear implants can give hearing to the deaf. In either case, it is difficult to understand others on the phone and in noisy environments, making communication more difficult. Early identification and treatment of deafness/hearing loss helps improve outcomes.

Deaf social life: Being deaf impairs one's ability to communicate effectively with others. Deaf individuals have to learn how to communicate with others using sign language or computers or by hand writing. There are schools for the deaf that enable them to gain these skills and communicate effectively later in life. I hope this helps.

Multiple ways: Partially deaf individuals have difficulty distinguishing sounds, and as a result, sometimes others think they are ignoring them. Interactions in noisy places are difficult; challenges at work and with intimacy are common, and sometimes deaf individuals withdraw and become socially isolated. In addition to the resources mentioned, counseling is available to assist those coping with hearing loss.
