What is a normal iq for a child at different ages?

Average=Average: The concept of IQ does not revolve around age, although testing must reflect the changing methods a kid has to respond. It is obvious that an average 20yo functions better than a 10yo and the 10yo better than a 2yo, but all can have identical iq's. The concept of IQ compairs like to like. In a group of 100 5yo the average IQ is 100 & a 5yo kid who scores 60 (60% of average) is slow.

100: The average IQ score is defined by experts as 100, no matter how old one is.This is arbitrary, but the test information is adjusted to the age of the child, so there are differences in the test itself related to the child's age. The scores are constant.

Normal IQ: The word "normal" isn't applied to iq scores anymore but, specifically, the label is "average range." these scores range from 90 to 109 on most widely used iq tests.

Children are able to: participate in formal IQ testing around age 5. The normal range is a Full-Scale IQ Score on an age-appropriate standardized test of 70-130. About 70% of people have IQ's of 85, low-average, to 115, high-average. The mean is 100. The average range is 90-109. The tasks demanded on a specific test & a child's behavioral & physical issues can impact scores. IQ's are usually "stable" after age 7.
