Exercise: You are probably referring to the general tendency for a global decline in cognitive function that occurs with age, whether or not there is alzheimer's dementia. Part of this is related to the decline in neuronal cell number that occurs as a process of programmed cell death (apoptosis). All of the studies demonstrate that exercise is the one thing that somehow attenuates this process.
