History is key, but-: When patients present with anxiety, it is important to obtain a clear history. The history gives the doctor clues as to whether there is real heart disease, versus just anxiety causing symptoms that mimic heart disease. In addition to history, a cardiologist might review an ekg, and obtain an echocardiogram to rule out any structural heart problems.
