Coronary care unit: The acronym refers to the team of physicians (generally, cardiologists) who take care of critically ill patients suffering from cardiac diseases (i.e. Akin to the "icu", or intensive care unit, for critically ill patients with general medical conditions, the ccu is specifically for cardiac patients needing this level of intensive care).
