A member asked:

Does pathologist usually call physician if malignant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Pathologist have a medical/legal duty to notify the physician who supplied the tissue sample, what ever the results including malignancy. The supplying physician then notifies the patient. The system is designed to minify the time from sampling to notification and to allow the most gentle and humane transfer of information.
