What could be causing a pain behind one eye?

Many causes: Pain behind one eye can be a myriad of causes, so should be checked out by an eye care provider. If nothing is found, then can be referred to another doctor to look for other causes if not improving. For example, eye pain can come from headache, dry eye, glaucoma, earache, toothache, sinus disease, arthritis, infection/inflammation, mass, etc.
