Many things: These can increase your risk, but do not mean you will get leukemia: 1. Family history of leukemia 2. Exposure to certain chemicals, eg benzene (found in degreasers) 3. Exposure to high or chronic radiation eg nuclear reactors 4. Previous chemotherapy or radiation therapy 5. Myelodysplastic syndrome 6. Downs syndrome and other genetic diseases 7. Smoking!

Multiple: Family history of cancer, genetic disorders, exposure to certain toxins and radiation, chemotherapy for another cancer or autoimmune disease, certain viruses like htlv (rare).

To list: Genetic: Downs syndrome, Fanconi Bloom etc.Emvironmental: chemical benzene chemotx drugs radiation high doses etc. Infectious: viral HTLV1 EBV HHV etc are short lists with complete list in cancer center websites. For you, we do not know since you have presented no data to estimate the risk. Ask your doctor to go thru these risk with you.
