See a hematologist: You really want to have this fully evaluated. It could be from a medicine you are taking, a condition called itp or a bone marrow or spleen disorder. If the count gets too low you could bleed excessively.

Lots...not all bad.: Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (itp). Autoimmune diseases...Like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Bacteria in the blood, and severe infections viral infections. Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (ttp). Hemolytic uremic syndrome. Medications. Heparin, quinidine, quinine, sulfa-containing antibiotics, anticonvulsants.
