What is the best way to quit smoking during pregnancy?

Just say no: From speaking to many many patients, the best way to stop smoking is "cold turkey". Don't say in two days or just this last pack! just make up your mind and just stop. Ear acupuncture has been found to be helpful in helping to stop also.

Many ways: Tapering off cigarettes over the course of a week or two is probably the best way. Nicotine replacement was once considered contraindicated in pregnancy, but this is no longer the case. Use of nicotine patches, lozenges, gum and other forms can be helpful. Your OB providers office probably has access to quit programs for pregnant women. Keep trying and good luck!

By stopping : Nicotine substitution regimens may be potentially harmful but they are better than smoking.
