Yes: Loosening is one of the most common problems after a joint is replaced. Certain joints are glued in. The cement can break with time. Other implants rely on bone growing into the metal to support it and some people can not do this effectively. Signs of loosening are increasing pain on using the jointandswellig. X-rays can show loosening when compared to the original x-ray. Bone scan are helpful.
