Discuss with your DR: The original reports of FAS came from births from alcoholics , many of whom did not survive the year.Working backward from their worst case exposure to moderate of minimal exposure has allowed us to suspect etoh effect if specific physical features are present. The suspicion that add or adhd may be part of the process is hard to separate from other causes. Discuss with your dr.

See an expert: If you drank heavily, your child may have fetal alcohol syndrome. Lesser amounts of drinking result in fetal alcohol effects. A developmental pediatrician can do an assessment, but would have to know the history of your drinking. Many of the same learning disabilities, psychiatric issues and behavioral problems occur in children whose mothers did not drink in pregnancy. Fas causes birth defects.
