Unknown: Cause of cysts in thyroid are unknown and can sometimes be due to a defect during development. 1-2 cyst in the liver is not uncommon and often benign but if many cysts are seen may be due to certain infetions.

Cysts: Cysts in the liver and in the thyroid are not related. Both are usually benign conditions. Most liver cysts are due to hemangioma blood collection and are usually benign. Some complex cysts need further evaluation.
