Unclear: Talk with your doctor. Parathyroid disease is not contagious, and if your doctor thought you both should get further testing, there is likely part of the story missing. So, just ask.

H Pylori not PTH: Perhaps it was h pylori testing that was advised. It is the bacteria that causes ulcers. High PTH can cause ulcers due to high calcium but that would be unlikely to affect your wife and you.
