Hormonally mediated: Sometimes, autocrine hormones released from fibroids can cause the dilation of blood vessels to allow blood to be diverted to the fibroid and can be seen as large blood vessels. During pregnancy, the uterine blood vessels also dilate to supply blood to the fetus.
