Mattress next to bed: Pelvic fractures are generally treated with pain control and physical therapy. Cushioned bed, mattress adjacent to bed to soften potential falls out of bed are often used.

Yes: It's probably the safest thing to do if there are no bed rails. The firm support is good and it is impossible to fall out of bed if the patient forgets where she is.
