Yes: An elevated white count, called "leukocytosis" can be caused by many things including infection, inflammatiopn, leukemia, traum, or stress. It can also be caused by pregnancy iin the final month, drugs, and smoking. Following trauma you can get an elevation of the count, but if it persists, further investigation is indicated to rule out infection such as a urinary tract infection.
