Blood test: A blood test used to detect and diagnose bacterial infectious disease, postsurgical wound infection, and inflammatory disorders such as acute rheumatic fever and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, it is used as an adjunct in detecting acute bacterial meningitis in an acutely febrile child and as an aid to evaluation of patients with acute myocardial infarction.
