Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine): Vyvanse, or lisdexamfetamine, is a category ii controlled substance used to treat symptoms of adhd by acting as a central nervous system long-acting stimulant. It works by enhancing the levels of Dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain to help with attention. Vyvanse is in the same class as Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) (vs. Ritalin-based stimulants). All stimulants have a high potential for abuse.

A form of amphetamin: Vyvanse, also call lisdexamfetamine is a prodrug, meaning that it is not itself active but forms an activie medication in the body. The molecule combines lysine, an amino acid, with d-amphetamine, the oldest of the stimulants. Once taken, the bond is cleaved, releasing amphetamine into the bloodstream. The provides a very different release pattern and decreases the likelihood of abuse markedly.
