Menses: Day one of the menstrual cycle is a flow, not just spotting. Day one doesn't necessarily have to be the heaviest flow day though.

Full flow?: A period is usually when there is a full flow. If it's just intermittent spotting, that may not be considered day 1. If it's a full flow, that's usually considered cycle day 1. If you're not really sure, check with your doc who prescribed the Clomid (clomiphene) and they can test you to see if it's truly the start of a period. As an aside, be sure to be monitored with blood/ultrasound tests!
