How is chylous ascites different from other ascites?

Lymph: Ascites is excessive fluid between the organs and the lining around them.The fluid can be clear, cloudy, bloody, brown, white, it has many causes including liver failure. In chylous ascites the fluid is lymph, a whitish fluid high in triglycerides. Chylous ascites has many causes including cancer, injury, infections eg. Tb, congenital problems (abnormality at birth), many others. No brief answer.

Harder to treat: It is much harder to treat, usually dietary changes are used. Sometimes an interventional radiologist(image guided surgeon) can identify the problem and block the leak, but it is a very specialized procedure.
