It is a symptom: If you catch a disease that affects the liver such as hepatitis which induces jaundice then yes. But the yellowish color is a sign of another underlying problem.

No: You can catch hepatitis from somebody else. Hepatitis can lead to jaundice, but you can't directly catch jaundice from somebody else.
