Depends: Genetic counselors can help you understand the disorder in reguards to it's origin & pattern of transmission in a family. The need for and timing of screening may also be information relevant to other family members. Actual case management would be more the area of your physician & nutritionist.

Not really: This is an inherited disease which can lead to heart issues and circulatory problems: you will need a combination of diet, exercise, weight/portion control and medication to control cholesterol levels.
