Ask your doctor: The best surgeon is hard too define. Ask yourself which condition requires what type o treatment? Has the person done sufficient number of procedure? Hoe have these cases gone? Ask nurses and doctors and if possible some ptients about their opinion of the individual surgeon.

Be data driven!: Cardiac surgeons participate in a national database sponsored by the society of thoracic surgeons (www.Sts.Org) which compares different cardiac surgical programs based on adherence to protocols and outcomes. I recommend any patient facing cardiac surgery to discuss this data with any prospective cardiac surgeon, if possible.
