Pericardial sac: The pericardial fluid, usually a straw colored fluid of between 10-20ml in volume lies in the pericardial sac. This is a lining that covers the outside of the heart. The fluid is in the sac and as the heart moves with each beat, provides lubrication for the heart, much like oil on a piston in your car.
