Can nitrates be effective in the management of chf?

Not first choice: Nitrates can reduce pre-load and when added to an afterload reducer such as Hydralazine they can help treat chf; but they are not first line. Ace inhibitors or arbs are a bbetter choice unless renal failure is present.
