See below.: Congestive heart failure is abbreviated as chf. This is a condition which results in congestion in the lungs due to poor pump power ( systolic dysfunction) due to heart damage like heart attack or weak heart muscle (cardiomyopathy). Inability of the heart to accept the volume of blood returning to the heart due to heart stiffness (diastolic dysfunction) can also cause lung congestion.
