Plac covers cervix: The placenta can be located anywhere inside the uterus. If the placenta covers the opening of the cervix then it is called a placenta previa. In some cases it is not covering the opening but is close. This is referred to as a low lying placenta. This is common early in pregnancy and is monitored by ultrasound. If the placenta is covering the cervix then a C-section is needed for delivery.

If you have one: Your OB should have totally explained to you what that is and what you can do and not do so please call your OB and ask him or her that so they can explain that to you, it is a placenta that is close usually withing a few cms of the cervix.
