Hello. : Hello. Don't know if this a full biologic sister, a half sister or a step - sister. Recommend that the parent who has custody of her be advised of what has happened and how it is impacting her. If she feels apprehensive and she wants support, you could offer to be with her when she shares this. If that parent has not been protective in the past, or your sister believes she will be punished for sharing with that parent, she could talk to her school counselor about this. Counselors are trained about how to approach this type of situation.

Support: Don't try to do amateur psychotherapy. Do not tell her how she should feel. There's no knowing what impact this had on her, despite the "pop" wisdom. She may be in full control of herself and have great resiliance. Or mental illness may be present, related or unrelated to what may have happened. Be willing to drive her to a physician's appointment if needed. You've got a good heart.
