Are all boils painful? i have lump just under the first layer of skin that is hard and painless. a few days ago it must have popped because it is gone now. was this a boil even though it was not painful?

A : A boil is often tender to touch. Small lesions can be reabsorbed by the body. What you are describing sounds like it may have been very small. Would have anticipated a boil to be a little larger in size.
