Hello, : Hello, if it is microwave popcorn, it could contain a chemical is called diacetyl which makes it taste buttery. Inhaling large amounts of this has caused lung problems in pop corn factory workers as well as high consumers of popcorn. The popcorn kernels and hulls can cause problems with people who have diverticulosis as well as getting caught in braces and causing problem with teeth and dentures.

Another : Another issue with burnt popcorn is that the kernel may not have popped completely leaving a hard core. If you bite down on this unexpectedly you run the risk of fracturing a tooth or filling. Also be careful when eating popcorn it is possible to get a piece of the thin outer shell caught in the sulcus of the gum. It acts as a sharp knife cutting down into the gum tissue a potentially leading to damage and an infection.

Since : Since this is a dental site i assume that you are referring to the implications that eating the hard kernels have on your teeth. I know it's fun to chomp down on these little morsels at the bottom of the bag but you risk the same damage as crunching ice, chewing on pens or biting your fingernails. It can certainly break teeth!
