If a person has sibo (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) is it okay to eat popcorn or rice?

How was diagnosed?: By intestinal fluid culture or by the hydrogen breath test? If diagnosed how was treated? Antibiotic and/or probiotics? The recommended diet is a low carbohydrate. Avoid starches, sugars, gluten and gut irritants like grains, legumes, nuts, caffeine, alcohol, artificial sweeteners and process ingredients. A naturopathic physician could help you the best. I will avoid popcorn and rice.

SIBO: With small intestinal bowel overgrowth, you want nutrients that are quickly absorbed, leaving less for any bacteria to consume. A low carb, high fat and high protein diet is best in this case. Popcorn and white rice would fall outside this category -- and are best avoided while your gut is healing. http://www.siboinfo.com/diet.html.
