Don't understand: What you mean about "principles" of CNS depressants. I am not aware of any such classification. CNS depressants are a highly variable group of drugs, ranging from alcohol, barbiturates, barbiturate-like drugs (ghb, glutethimide, methaqualone and others), benzodiazepines but also antihistamines, anticholinergics, antipsychotics and others. All activate gaba, some chloride ion channels(more lethal).
