Maybe nerve: Could be nerve compression at wrist c/w carpal tunnel syndrome, but other nerve could be the culprit. Possible vascular instability such as raynauds if digits change color. The heat however, could make a peripheral nerve problem seem temporarily worse. See your pcp and find the answer.

Carpal : Carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, perpheral neuropathy, neck nerve compression, sleep position, medications, nutritional issues, thyroid or endocirne, diabetes, blood flow, vascular issues... Many things cause "numb" fingers.
