Too much sugar: I discourage the use of juice in my patients as it has llittle nutritional value & rivels colas in its sugar content. If you want baby to have apple, use sauce;orange, give wedges, grape, smash a few and offer the whole fruit. The florida oj people and juice box purveyers want yoou to believe they offer a great bonus to your childs health, but remember, this baby fast food is not that nutricious.

Empty calories: Juice usually has some calories, as simple sugar or glucose, or fruit sugar known as fructose. Children who drink more than about 12 ounces a day of fruit juice tend to be more overweight. The body perceives the intake of calories and decides it is full enough and doesn't take in as much other healthy food with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.

Same as...: ...The harm of giving juice, alone. It's a sugary drink from which all of the good nutrients of the original fruit have been thrown out.
